A wonderful original German celluloid 'folding lady' corkscrew, Circa. 1890-1900. The shank of the corkscrew marked 'GES. GESCH' indicating a German trade mark applied for. The use of celluloid to simulate ivory began in the 1880s and was marketed under various names, notably ''French Ivory'' in the U.S.A. and ''Ivorine'' in the U.K.
